Dr. Maksym Pogorielov, Head of the Advanced Biomaterials and Biophysics Laboratory, took part in the MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit (Boston, USA) with an invited talk titled ‘Antibacterial potential of MXenes: revisiting mechanisms and introducing photothermal precision strategies’. This presentation showcased recent data from the LZP project (nr. lzp-2023/1-0243) ‘Novel concept for targeted photothermal cancer treatment’, the MSCA-SE project MX-MAP, and the M-era.Net project AntiMicroMXene.
The MRS Fall Meeting brought together researchers from around the world for five days of cutting-edge science, insightful talks, and productive discussions. A key highlight of the event was the MXene-focused symposium, organised by Prof. Babak Anasori. Over four intensive days, participants explored MXenes from multiple perspectives - from synthesis and surface modification to their rapidly growing range of applications, including in biomedicine.
For Dr. Pogorielov and his collaborators, the symposium was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, learn about the latest experimental results, and identify new directions for joint projects. The discussions and networking at the meeting are expected to stimulate new research initiatives and future publications in the field of MXene-based antibacterial and photothermal technologies
