On February 24, the community of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) gathered in the atrium of the House of Science to have a moment of silence in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and in remembrance of the war victims.

During his address, the Dean of FST, Aigars Ekers, said: ‘It is heartening to see so many of us here today, but I sincerely hope this is the last commemoration held during wartime. No matter how long this continues, we will stand with Ukraine!’

Speeches were also delivered by our colleague from Ukraine – leading researcher at the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy, Maksym Pogorielov, as well as the Third Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, Ivan Petrychko. The moment of remembrance was made especially emotional by Ukrainian musician Anna Franchuk.

Thank you to every staff member and student who showed their support by attending the event!
