Representatives of the Advanced Biomaterials and Biophysics Laboratory represented the University of Latvia at the prestigious EuroMXene 2026 Congress, held at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland (June 3–5, 2026).
Dr. Maksym Pogorielov delivered an invited talk on targeted antitumour and antibacterial applications of MXenes, while Dr. Viktoriia Korniienko and Dr. Kateryna Diedkova presented flash talks on MXene-based antibacterial concepts and tissue engineering applications. Our laboratory is among the leading research centres investigating biomedical applications of MXenes. The presented lectures stimulated valuable discussions on the future of two-dimensional materials in biomedicine.
The results presented at EuroMXene were made possible through the active participation of our group in several research projects, including the Latvian Postdoctoral Research Project No.1.1.1.9/LZP/1/24/142 ‘Cell-Based Electroconductive Smart Tissue Engineering Platform for Myocardial Regeneration’, the ERA4Health project ‘Targeted MXene-Assisted Photothermal Therapy for Multiresistant Bacterial Infections’ (THERMEX, No. ES RTD/2025/13), and the LCS project Nr.lzp-2023/1-0243 ‘Novel Concept for Targeted Photothermal Cancer Treatment’
