The Head of the Advanced Biomaterials and Biophysics laboratory Dr. Maksym Pogorielov delivered an invited lecture at the 15th International Conference Nanotech Poland 2026, held in Poznań, Poland (June 8–11, 2026). His talk, entitled ‘Coexistence of Biocompatibility and Antibacterial Activity in MXenes: Myth or Reality?’, initiated an active discussion on the potential of MXene applications in medicine, including antibacterial and anticancer strategies. This research was supported by the LCS project Nr. lzp-2023/1-0243 ‘Novel Concept for Targeted Photothermal Cancer Treatment’.
During the conference, Dr. Pogorielov also participated in the kick-off meeting of the new ERA4Health project ‘Advancing Personalized Modeling of Neuro-Cardiac Dysfunction Using hiPSCs, CRISPR/Cas9, Microfluidics, and MXene Fiber Technologies’, which will start in July this year. The project brings together partners from Latvia, France, Poland, and Italy and focuses on the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools for rare heart diseases
