Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy, University of Latvija (IAPS UL) leading researcher Ulises Miranda Ordonez for the 4th time goes to Poland for an experience exchange visit during Nanoserf project “Nanostructural surface development for dental implant manufacturing” in which U. M. Ordonez works with project partner Osteoplant R&D.

During february 2020. U. M. Ordonez spent his time working with colleagues from Osteoplant R&D to develop a white membrane and to test it. The white membrane is made of nanofibers of polylactic acid and was cut in to pieces of 2 cm2. To determine oxygen and UV radiation effects on the membrane, some of the pieces were treated with plasma oxygen, some with UV radiation, untreated samples were saved for microscopic analysis.

Also U. M. Ordonez worked with a new laser which can be used to mark small anodized pieces of titanium with a label. Experimenting with different laser parameters colored marking on the yellow pieces (anodized titanium) were obtained.

U. M. Ordonez in collaboration with his colleagues at Osteoplant R&D, acquired the additional knowledge and experience needed to execute the Nanosurf project, the production of new dental implants.

The experience exange visit is a part of the “Horizon 2020” funded Nanosurf project “Nanostructural surface development for dental implant manufacturing” (777926-NanoSurf-H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017).
