A total of forty-nine applications were evaluated in the 2023 Science Achievement Competition organised by Latvian Academy of Sciences: 17 – in natural sciences, medical and health sciences, 14 – in material sciences and engineering sciences, 14 – in humanities, arts and social sciences and 4 – in agricultural and forestry sciences.

For the work ‘System analysis of the growth microorganisms in solid medium’ the Letter of Appreciation of the President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences was awarded to a group of authors led by the Biophotonics Laboratory of the Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy of the University of Latvia in cooperation with the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, the Institute of Smart Computer Technology, the Paula Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, SIA "Laboratory Auctoritas".
