About the project:
This interdisciplinary project is aimed to develop novel one dimensional metal oxide (MOX) core-shell nanofibers (CSNES) by co-axial electrospinning. The novel CSNES nanofibers will have a magnetic core (Fe2O3) and a dielectric shell (TiO2 and ZnO). Structure, electronic, optical, magnetic and electrochemical properties of the CSNES will be designed for environmental application as photocatalysis of active pharmaceutic compounds (APC) (paracetamol, amoxicillin ,etc.) under visible light excitation. On the basis of the project results, new mechanisms of forming of metal oxide (MOX) core-shell heterostructures (CSNES) by co-axial electrospinning, tailoring of their structure, electronic, optical, magnetic and photocatalytic properties towards active pharmaceutic compounds (APC) (paracetamol, amoxicillin ,etc.) will be achieved. The project results will be reflected in 3 scientific publications, 3 conference thesis, and 1 Latvian patent application. In addition, 1 workshop and 1 conference section will be co-organized.
